Synchronizing sensors measuring same filament

Applies to

Sensoft Multiline

Issue

I have two sensors measuring the same filament at two different positions (before and after the oven). The positions of the defects in the two files have an offset. Can one synchronize the two sensors to avoid this offset?

Solution

Yes. You can define the filament position at the measurement start, so that the defects will have the same position:

  1. In the Sensoft software go to page Settings and click on Configure... to enter into the Hardware configuration dialog window (Figure 1)
  2. Click on Group sensors

    Hardware configuration dialog window

Figure 1: Hardware configuration dialog window. This and the following figures illustrate a setup consisting of two filaments each being measured by two PXS sensors. This figure shows the situation without sensor synchronization.

Figure 2: Same setup as in Figure 1, but with synchronized sensors.

  3. New fields appear (Figure 2). Leave Group empty, but set Distance [mm] of the sensor after the oven to its distance measured along the wire to the other sensor. The distance should be measured from slit to slit
  4. Accept by pressing OK and save the settings.

Note hat this is different from grouping the sensors into a single virtual sensor with more axes. Just the position is synchronized.

It is possible to synchronize the position of more than two sensors. A negative Distance [mm] is also supported, e.g. to synchronize a Sensoptic sensor to a competitor sensor further down the line.
